Acclaimed independent studio Platinum Games is up to something. And so far, we only have the number "4" to go off of.

The studio, known for major titles like Bayonetta, NieR: Automata, and Astral Chain, has recently added a new subsection to their main website. The tab to the section, titled Platinum 4, brings the viewer to a large, mostly empty page with a grey background. After waiting a moment, the grey is flooded with a zoom through stars, stopping on a large number 4.

The studio has given no indication as to what this is teasing. But based on past behavior, fans are speculating that it is the first teaser in a wave of new titles. Many call back to 2008 when Platinum announced the development of three major titles, Mad World, Infinite Space, and Bayonetta for publication by Sega.

There's no certainty as to what these new titles would be, whether they would be continuations of existing titles, anything at all. It's easy to rumor about another Bayonetta game or a sequel to NieR or Vanquish. But frankly, we look the most forward to whatever new IP they come up with. If this teaser is even about games.

The only speculation that we have confidence in is that whatever they produce, it'll be made available on the Nintendo Switch. The studio has a close and familiar history with the game company over the last decade.

We'll be watching closely, stay tuned.
