Good news comes to those who long for a chance to build up an army of small, plant-like creatures in an effort to scavenge for parts and fight large plant-like creatures. Nintendo has announced Pikmin 3 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe is a revitalization of the 2013 Wii U game. More than just a port, Deluxe will introduce a collection of new features, quality of life improvements, local co-op, and even a new set of missions featuring protagonists Olimar and Louie, acting as a prologue and epilogue to the main game.
Much of the game has been tweaked to better fit modern format and quality. This includes enemy balancing, new difficulty modes, a hint system, and a new targeting system.
With the exception of the platformer spinoff Hey Pikmin in 2017, its been seven years since we saw anything from Shigeru Miyamoto's cute survival puzzle series. Miyamoto talked about the possibility of a proper sequel, Pikmin 4, back in 2017. But his only information boiled down to saying that its in progress. We've not heard anything since. The reveal of Pikmin 3 Deluxe shows us that Nintendo hasn't forgotten about the series, though. It's quite possible that the company is using this game to gauge interest in the franchise before committing to 4 any further.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe will release on October 30, 2020. For more information, including a pre-order option, visit the official website.
