Phasmophobia took Steam by storm when it released in late 2020. But the developer hasnt taken their success leisurely. A new update has released, bringing bug fixes, tweaks, and gameplay improvements with it.

Whats New:

The update will add a new mono sound option in the accessibility section. Players will also be able to control what connection ports are used in multiplayer sessions, allowing for more stable connections. Both options require a game restart.

But what about gameplay?

There are a few smaller changes to help improve quality of life in the game. Players will be able to select a contract difficulty, instead of it being randomly chosen and the sanity board will show the average sanity level of the party.

Some of the biggest changes are with the Ghost AI, however. The way that ghosts search for players after line of sight is lost has been improved beyond randomly searching. They will look around the last place they saw someone, opening doors, closet, and lockers, to find them both in and out of hunts.

Another big change was made to the temperature system. Each room will have its own target temperature, which it will slowly reach when power is on. When the power is off, however, all rooms will gradually lose ambient temperature, making it particularly difficult to find the ghost room.

Theres a slew of additional tweaks and changes to functions like the parabolic microphone, the dirty water goal, and so on. For a full list of changes, visit the official change log post.

This isnt the only change the game has seen since launch. Weve seen a steady stream of updates, including an entire new location: the prison. Its been wonderful seeing both success for the developer and a continued drive to improve the game after its launch to popularity.
