With Gamescon over and Pax coming, this has proven to be a very, very slow week for news.  And hey, that’s awesome for some—it gives them some time to relax and catch their breaths between whirlwind experiences.  But for those of us on the sidelines, who report the news without being able to attend these fantastic venues, it’s a frustrating  wasteland of non-stories and insignificant coverage.

But hey, it’s the life we chose.   Do not pity us, fair reader, merely learn from what we have to teach.

…wait, wasn’t there supposed to be a multiplayer reveal for The Phantom Pain today?  A Gamescon Demo?

…awwww yeah.

Below you’ll find a 22 minute demo showing off Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, the upcoming Stealth Adventure game from Konami.   It’s worth a watch if you’re a fan of the series, or just looking to see how badly they still need to hire a proper writer.

Because this video was in conversation with the earlier E3 demo of the Phantom Pain, it will mean more if you watched and can remember that.  Fortunately, this is the internet, and if you really want to see the E3 Demo I included it below.

But back to the Gamescon demo, the most interesting thing I’ve seen is the new multiplayer mode, which starts around the 17 minute mark.  It gives me a “Mighty Quest for Epic Loot”/”The Castle Doctrine” vibe,  and the  idea of building a base, pimping it out with defenses and troops, and being able to sneak onto other people’s base to take their stuff sounds like a lot of fun.  Almost enough to make me plan on getting the game myself.

Regardless, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the Phantom Pain.  Here’s betting we’ll get at least a little more during PAX.
