After years of pleading, Persona 5 is finally coming to Nintendo Switch. But not quite in the way they expected. Atlus has announced Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, a real-time beat-em-up.

Developer Atlus is partnering with Koei Tecmo to create the title, revealing it last Thursday with a Japanese video. In the video, we see the Persona 5 protagonist fight against a horde of shadows at the scramble crossing of Shibuya. The gameplay appears to be similar to the line of Warriors games that Koei Tecmo is known for.

The video concludes with a shot of a girl with heart hair. Her role is unclear at this time.

This is an unexpected surprise to Persona fans. With the recent announcement of Persona 5 Royal and protagonist Joker being added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch, fans have been begging for the franchise to come to the console. People assumed this would be done in the form of a Port, they didn't expect a beat-em-up spin-off.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers will release on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch as an undisclosed future date.
