Showing off a game that's still in alpha is a tricky business. It can be an invaluable way to gauge reception and feedback. It can also take a dark turn. Regardless of how much you tweak the mechanics and upgrade the engine, that alpha video is your first impression. Period. The team at Perfect Square Studios have tried their hand at an early gameplay trailer for their upcoming title, People Eater. From the footage, it appears to be a simple and whimsical game of violently and gruesomely eating as many people as possible.

And of course it's purple.

People Eater has a lot going for it. There is the whole "eating people" thing, for one. But it also has enemies, bullets, upgrades, blood animations, and more. It appropriately features a top-town view that's similar to Hotline Miami. The gameplay looks a bit like it too. And for that, I am grateful.
