Mafia III, the latest installment of a long-running series of sandbox games that could probably be called the sober-minded sibling of the GTA trifecta (Mafia, to GTA, to Saints Row, in order of silliness) was released today for consoles and PC's, and while we don't have any news, yet, on how well it's performed (although the hype around it is certainly palpable), we're already finding ourselves face-first with a bit of a controversy. As is becoming the case fairly typically in today's gaming world, there seems to be a problem with the performance of the PC version of the game.

The problem? The game is LOCKED AT 30 FRAMES PER SECOND. Oh, the inhumanity.

Fortunately, your friends at 2K are already on it and have issued an urgent warning to the panicking and riotous masses, informing them that a patch, which will remedy the problem and raise the game's FPS to 60, will be released soon.

"We currently have a patch running here at the studio that includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options in the video menu, among other improvements for the PC version of Mafia III. We're verifying the patch now to ensure everything is working as expected. If everything goes well, we expect the update to go live this weekend. We will be keeping the PC community up-to-date on the status of the patch throughout the weekend and thank you for all the feedback!"

So, breathe easy, master race: your eyes won't have to endure suffering through the 30 missing frames you so desperately need for long. But be sure to say a prayer or two for those unfortunate souls who have been affected.

I hope you have a speedy recovery, sirs/ma'ams.
