PayPal Backers Lose Out on Kickstarter Exclusive Rewards

And they're expectedly not happy.

Well, PayPal backers may have just been screwed over. Back in early December, Shenmue 3's developer Ys Net conducted a poll that asked if the rewards from Kickstarter should also be existent for PayPal backers.

Well, turns out it's kind of a Catch-22 situation here: if PayPal users backed and received nothing, then they may feel jipped. If they did, then the Kickstarter backers would feel jipped.

"Keeping our promise to you is very important to us, but at the same time, the PayPal site was set up precisely because fans could not back the Kickstarter and they feel they should not be penalized for that."

Nevertheless, the results of the poll have emerged, and it appears as if the Kickstarter backers have won this round.

"Considering the strong response from those of you who felt that the Exclusive Rewards should remain exclusive for the Kickstarter, those Exclusive Rewards will not be made available on the PayPal page as originally promised."

And people were expectantly not happy about this. According to the update, 15,110 Kickstarter backers participated in the poll, but 4009 wanted the rewards exclusive. 4670 actually stated they wanted the rewards extended to PayPal, but 6432 replied with an "Either is fine with me."

As for the Twitter poll that was conducted, two-thirds of 2121 participants actually wanted to extend the rewards, and 17 percent was against it. This is strange in this case. So shouldn't it have been extended to PayPal backers? So strange.

"We hope everyone will continue to let their voices be heard as we go forward with the project."

Apparently there are some still important rewards on PayPal. Not like they're going to be removed at least.
