Past Cure Devs have Twitter Meltdown to Negative Review

They never claimed to be "legit game developers," as well.

Every so often, a game developer says something they shouldn't online. This is why many studios opt for a PR team instead of directly interacting with fans. Phantom8 Studios, the developers of the recently released Past Cure, has sparked new controversy when they reacted aggressively to a critic.

It began when the Past Cure Twitter account asked their followers for feedback. When the lead writer for Backlogcritic.com, a gaming reviews website, responded with a link to their review of the title, they were not met with the respectful hospitality one would expect.

The critic (as well as just about every other review site) gave it a poor score. In response to this, the developer stated they were "Not interested in bad reviews." criticizing the article for its negative review of the game.

The devs also asked what the critic believed the price should be. They responded with £15 (compared to it's current £25), saying that they need to be mindful of asking prices when presenting as a "legit game developer". This led to the developers saying that they never claimed to be a legit game developer, highlighting their inexperience. That's a good excuse to charge more, right?

After this ordeal, the developer twitter has blocked the critic and has deleted their tweets from the discussion.

Game development is by no means an easy job. But like with any public service, there will be criticism. Brushing off hateful or otherwise unhelpful comments will help you survive the tough industry, but so will accepting constructive feedback from professional critics.
