Paladins Open Beta Comes to Xbox One/PS4

Coming to us from the developer of popular MOBA Smite is Paladins. Paladins is a free-to-play first person team based shooter that arguably looks and feels a lot like Overwatch. Whether or not Paladins has similarities to Overwatch, it has been extremely well received on PC since it came to Steam early access back in 2016. Because of the game's success on PC, Paladins is now available to play on PS$ and Xbox One via an open beta starting today. 

While Paladins has a very positive user review score on Steam, it's definitely sparked a significant amount of controversy regarding its similarities to Overwatch. While Hi-Rez Studios claims that Paladins is not an Overwatch clone, some of the character designs are eerily similar to Overwatch heroes. It's definitely hard to believe that Paladins didn't take any inspiration from Overwatch, but regardless, Hi-Rez Studios has claimed that it was "the most-played new steam game of 2016". Paladins features a character that's alarmingly similar to Reaper, and a fat guy that hooks in teammates and yells "get over here" while doing so. Overwatch clone or not, it has definitely sparked some outrage from Overwatch fans. Even with all the controversy,  Paladins has consistently stayed in the top 15 games on Steam since its release. 

If you're a fan of team-based shooters such as Overwatch, Paladins might be worth the shot, and since it's free, it definitely couldn't hurt. If you're planning on participating in the open beta on console, be sure to try your chance at grabbing an exclusive skin that's usable on Xbox One, PS4, and PC via Gamespot.
