Nintendo expands on its mobile game monetization with the introduction of paid subscriptions to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

Announced through Twitter and through the in-game news network, the popular Animal Crossing mobile game will be introducing two pay-per-month premium features to the game, each with different game-altering effects.

In Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, the player manages a campground, customizing their RV and grounds, tending to and visiting animal villagers, and playing various mini-games. It is Nintendo's third most profitable mobile game, grossing around $111 million in the two years it's been available.

There will be two different subscription options: the first one will allow players to select a designated villager as a camp caretaker, giving "extra help around the campsite." The other option will grant the player a steady supply of Fortune Cookies (the game's form of furniture based loot boxes) and additional storage space through a warehouse. Neither of these options has been elaborated on beyond that, nor has the price for these services been revealed.

Nintendo will release more information about the service on November 20.

This announcement comes not long after the release of Mario Kart Tour, Nintendo's mobile game based on the Mario Kart franchise. This game was the company's first foray into subscription services for mobile games, offering a premium status for $5 per month. The model must have been effective if they're bringing similar methods to their other games.
