Yet another milestone!

As reported by Activision Blizzard's latest earnings report earlier today, Overwatch has passed the billion dollar revenue mark. This should come as no surprise to any fans of Overwatch, and quite frankly, it's about time. The billion dollar milestone is definitely something special, especially for a company that had no previous experience developing first person shooters.

The earnings report covers revenue earned from both game sales and microtransactions. While Overwatch definitely sold and continues to sell exceptionally well across all platforms, it's loot box system also brings in a lot of revenue due to people's desire for sweet, sweet skins. I can definitely say I've purchased my fair share of loot boxes.

Overwatch is now the eighth billion-dollar franchise in Activision Blizzard's portfolio, joining titans of the industry such as Call Of Duty and Blizzards own World Of Warcraft. Overwatch has come a long way since its release last year, and I have no doubt that this milestone is one of many to come.
