Before we even had a specific time-frame in which we were expecting Doomfist to arrive, Terry Crews was at the forefront of potential voices for Overwatch's most anticipated villain. Terry even visited Blizzard and conducted a video audition tape for the role, which he released online. Fans were immediately engulfed with the idea that Terry will be Doomfist.

Fast forward to today, and obviously, this isn't the case at all. Shortly after Doomfist was announced, meme's blew up all over the internet of Terry Crews as Doomfist, and even though nobody seems to be disappointed with the Doomfist voice actor, Sahr Ngaujah, we still had virtually no idea why Terry Crews wasn't chosen. Until now.

In a recent Q&A Panel, Senior Designer Michael Chu explained that although they loved Terry for the role, Sahr Ngaujah blew them out of the water with his audition, and was ultimately able to bring more "flavor" to the table.

"We love Terry. Terry's awesome. He came and visited us. We had a great time. But when we were looking for Doomfist, we were looking for something very specific given his role in the game and everything. When we were early in the audition process, we heard Sahr, who's the actor who plays Doomfist, and he just blew us away immediately. Once we heard his voice, it was like, 'Holy crap. That's Doomfist.'"

Although Terry Crews will be missed, there is the possibility that he could be the voice actor of another Overwatch hero in the future, but he will always be Doomfist in the hearts and minds of the fans.
