Oh great, more jump scares.

Outlast 2, the brutally horrific first-person horror game filled with mutant rednecks and baby corpses alike is finally releasing on April 25th.  As if Resident Evil didn't provide us with enough jump scares, now we get to soil our pants in an entirely new world where running is our only option.

Outlast 2 is unique because of its "camera" feature, which allows players to see in the dark, so long as they keep finding and reloading their battery.  This mechanic adds a new level of survival, as without batteries, the game gets a whole lot more challenging and frightening.  The only ways to survival and get through Outlast is running for your life, hiding for a bit, then running for your life some more.  The only tool for survival is your trusty camera and your investigative skills of course.

While most people might not like the lack of combat in Outlast, it is a horror game at the end of the day, and not being able to fight back makes it so much more terrifying when you're faced with enemies.  Chase sequences can be absolutely cringe-worthy, as you'll most likely find yourself pausing the game a lot.  Or maybe I'm just a wimp, but I kinda doubt it.

Outlast 2 will be releasing on April 25th for PC, Xbox One and PS4 at $30 with no plans for future DLC at the moment.  Developer Red Barrels has also announced that all three outlast games (Outlast, the Outlast: Whistleblower DLC, & Outlast 2) will be included in a bundle for purchase only on Xbox One and PS4, titled "Outlast Trinity".  As of this publication, Outlast 2 is not yet available for pre-purchase on Steam or the GOG store.
