Backwards compatibility is either a hit or a miss with Xbox players. The idea of buying an old game, once again on a new console isn't always the most exciting prospect, mostly because these old games really aren't that old at all.

Although backwards compatibility might not be the talk of the town at the moment, it has just been announced that original Xbox titles will be coming to Xbox One backwards compatibility later this year. This may be the saving grace that the Xbox One needs at the moment, at least with comparing to the game list of PlayStation Plus.
