If you've ever played multiplayer in virtual reality, I'm sure you've seen some weird things. From odd movements to generic animations, the devices are far from perfect. In an attempt to improve overall quality of movements, OptiTrack wants to make devices that allow for more precise motion tracking. They are promising full-body tracking that will make every motion known.
Their device has motion trackers all over your body, including your hands and feet. By placing them all over, they will be able to track every single movement precisely, without leaving your movements up to what your headset thinks you're probably doing. These are not going to be for home use though.
This technology is being designed specifically for VR arcades right now. For one, it's extremely expensive equipment that you really don't need to have in your life. I mean, if you're body is a little twitchy when you're playing a game at home with your friends, it doesn't mean you should drop thousands of dollars on better equipment. The HTC Vive and Oculus Rift are just fine for home use.
OptiTrack wants you to be able to have a great time when you're at a VR arcade so you'll end up coming back. I mean, the sensors strapped all over your body probably aren't the most comfortable thing in the world, but having a good time is all that's important.
