Animal Crossing is one of Nintendo's big hitter IPs. Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the 7th best selling 3DS title to date. But only now is it doing better than its DS predecessor, Animal Crossing: Wild World.

According to an investor update for Q1 of 2018, we learn that New Leaf has achieved a total 11.78 million unit sales in its lifetime. This means that the game has finally outsold Wild World's 11.75 million lifetime sales.

Almost anyone familiar with the two games will tell you that New Leaf is a massive improvement over Wild World. The extra power behind the 3DS allowed the game to have much higher quality graphics and features, while the internet connectivity allowed for regular updates and even major content patches.

Unfortunately, this is likely the newest Animal Crossing game you'll have for a while. Franchise Co-director Isao Moro recently left Nintendo, leaving little hope that a new title was in development, nor planned to be.
