One Small Hint that a New Metroid Game is Coming

Better than nothing, but don't get your hopes up.

Are you ready for a new Metroid game?!

Me too! And while we just now got the barest suggestion of a hint that maybe Nintendo is working on one, if you came onto this article hoping for some absolutes, then you’re going to walk away disappointed. But, even if it’s not Metroid, it’s probably still cool news, especially for music fans.

Our little hint comes from Alexander Brandon, a man who… really needs an introduction. He’s the fellow who composed music for the Deus Ex series, as well as Thief and Torment: Tides of Numeria. He’s a pretty heavy hitter with a big profile of science fiction and fantasy music, and chances are you’re a fan of his work, if you have any love of that kind of music.

In any case, earlier this month, he posted this on Facebook,(via Siliconera) in a rather big post about his current state of affairs:

"I'm currently working with Retro Studios here in Austin. As much as I'd like to say more (except the work is incredibly exciting and the team is awesome), I can't."

Retro Studios is the company behind the latest Donkey Kong Country revival… and, more importantly, the Metroid Prime games. Considering his music tends to be used for more low-key, mature projects than the vibrant jungle beats you might see in Donkey Kong, and considering that the Switch is in need of a new Metroid game, it’s not hard to draw a hopeful conclusion that a new Metroid game is in the works! Of course, it’s still a stretch, and we could always be surprised, but in any case, this fellow is a very talented composer and I look forward to seeing what he puts out with Retro.

…Not that I wouldn’t prefer a new Metroid game or anything. Comeon, Nintendo, the last two have been so meh!
