October's Free PS+ Lineup Features Super Meat Boy, Broken Age

Well, at least those are two good selections. However, Kickbeat...

Well, October's PS Plus Lineup is a mixed bag for many, though personally speaking, a couple games do itch my curiosity. That said, it seems that Xbox Live may come out ahead next month with its free lineup of Valiant Hearts: The Great War, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (Xbox 360 only), and The Walking Dead (both consoles).

Okay, well, actually with Ground Zeroes not being available on Xbox One, maybe the ratings of the lineup between the two consoles are about the same.

Without further adieu, here are October's free games, arriving October 6:

Broken Age (PlayStation 4/PS Vita) - a point-and-click adventure that focuses on the coming of age stories of two teenagers in similar situations but radically different worlds.

Super Meat Boy (PlayStation 4/PS Vita) - a tough, in-your-face indie platformer that has earned itself quite a lot of fame. Despite its fame, the indie title is just now arriving on the PlayStation 4 and Vita, giving many who haven't purchased the opportunity to rage at their screens.

Unmechanical Extended (PlayStation 4/PlayStation 3) - A non-linear puzzle adventure game, Unmechanical features out-of-the-box thinking to find solutions in order to progress the story. It's always good to work out the brain from time to time.

Kickbeat (PlayStation 3/PS Vita) - Kickbeat is a title that merges martial arts with music, where you must beat up a bunch of baddies who have kidnapped your grandfather. There are some popular music tracks thrown into the game, and it does feature a create-a-beat mode that you can beat up baddies too... except the mode isn't as user-friendly and adaptive as one hopes. Overall, a generic title, but for those truly interested in any music and rhythm game, it's worth a shot.

Kung Fu Rabbit (PlayStation 3/PS Vita) - As a rabbit who has escaped from the clutches of a universal evil, you need to save your disciples, who have remained captured, utilizing platforming elements.

Chariot (PlayStation 3) - Chariot (a game I wish was available on PlayStation 4), brings humor and physics to couch co-op gaming. A brave princess and her suitor must carry a funeral wagon through ancient caves while battling looters that hope to snatch the treasure the king has left behind in the wagon.

Though not the best lineup ever, there are some interesting titles in the midst such as Broken Age and Super Meat Boy. Then again, having a lackluster game such as Kickbeat enter the roster is a little disappointing. Hopefully in November, Sony will pick up the pace again. Again, these free games will be available on October 6, 2015, but it is also important to note that DriveClub PS+ Edition will be leaving the roster on that date as well.
