We recently announced the creation of new indie label under Take-Two Interactive, Private Division. Obsidian Entertainment, most famous for their work with Fallout: New Vegas, was one of the indie studios listed to be partnered with Private Division. This raised heavy concern from the community considering Take-Two's recent declaration to implement microtransactions in future games.

Obsidian Entertainment has an upcoming RPG in development to be published by Private Division. After the community concern, Obsidian made a statement on their forums reassuring fans that there will be "no microtransactions, of any kind, in our game."

"Far from 'pushing' us to put anything, microtransactions or otherwise, into our game, Private Division has been incredibly supportive of our vision, our creative freedom, and the process by which we work to make RPGs. They have been fantastic partners, and we are extremely excited to work with them through release, to put what we know is going to be an amazing game into as many hands as possible."

It would seem that Take-Two intends to monetize their large-scale titles as much as possible while letting Private Division do as it pleases. This is reassuring for the indie game scene. However, this doesn't look good for the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2. The microtransactions system In Grand Theft Auto 5, another Take-Two published game, has been one of heavy criticism. Many believe that a similar treatment will come to Red Dead Redemption 2.
