So, first things first: the NX. The exact quote used in the investor's meeting goes as follows:
"For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed 'NX' with a brand-new concept. NX will be launched in March 2017 globally. [The NX is] a brand new concept. For the purpose of maximizing the population that interacts with Nintendo IP, we have entered into the smart device gaming business."
There have been a lot of rumors circulating around about the nature of the NX, but this certainly reinforces the theory that the platform will launch with a 'mobile platform' that can be played independently from the main console. What's cooler still is the launch date: with 11 months until go time, we can expect to figure out exactly what the NX is before the end of the year.
Not at E3, surprisingly enough. In the same investor's meeting, Nintendo also said that the upcoming and thus far unnamed Legend of Zelda game would be delayed to 2017 (Yes, for the exact reason you're thinking: so the game could be launched on the new console as well as the old, similar to Twilight Princess), but more to the point, they also shared that the game would be a major focus at this year's E3... perhaps in the hope that it would garnish the same level of hype as the aforementioned title.
So while there's a lot we don't know yet, we at least have an idea when we can expect more details, which is nice. So, looks like we're going to have a lot of fun in the coming months, huh?
