A release date for Evoland 2: A Slight Case of Spacetime Continuum (details here) has been set in stone, unaltered by time-traveling mechanics. Evoland 2, which offers a pre-order bonus of a 10% discount and digital artbook on the official site is set for August 25, 2015 for PC and at a later date for Mac and Linux.

Evoland 2 resembles Evoland in terms of video game evolution--beginning in the simplistic days of NES and ending in full-blown 3D graphics. Evoland 2, however, is exponentially larger and more dynamic in comparison to its predecessor, encompassing the core of an RPG and promising a deeper experience by offering complex scenarios, dozens of unique characters, and different gameplay styles (including fighting, shooting, and platforming elements) that are based on the story and player's actions.

In the second Evoland title, players slip into the shoes of a hero who must protect the strange world he lives in by gaining an understanding of the events discovered in different timelines. With that knowledge wielded, the hero must alter the future to save the world, but unfortunately, there's a secret that lingers at the core of his world that affects time itself...

Like Evoland, the spiritual successor pays homage to classic games with references and humor, so expect your nostalgia bones to be tickled.

Quoting CEO of Shiro Games Sebastien Vidal on the release of Evoland 2:

"By confirming to our fans when Evoland 2 will release, we hope the excitement and anticipation will garner further awareness of this very special game. We are taking every measure to deliver a memorable experience that delivers on the original vision we had set for the original Evoland. This is going to be an epic adventure through the world of videogames and we hope players will join us."

Players do not need to play Evoland in order to enjoy Evoland 2. Evoland 2 is a standalone title that has been built upon the feedback and visions of Evoland.

Evoland 2, due for an August 25, 2015 release on PC, can be pre-ordered for $17.99 on the official site.
