One of those happy times where no news is good news.
Bethesda, of course, is no more immune to the political wranglings of the business side of gaming than any other, and that was more evidently clear with the release of Skyrim--where a special deal was struck where some versions of the game would get patches and DLC before others due to an exclusivity clause. It was one of those ways console-makers tried to get a leg-up over their competition, which is kind of dumb, as I don’t know many people who were so indecisive about which console to buy they let the release date of DLC make that choice for them.
Regardless, Bethesda has been caught doing that more than once, and people have raised hell over it. Fortunately, it seems their next and possibly greatest game, Fallout 4, will be missing that particular feature… and it’s one of those rare times when excluding something from a sandbox game will be seen as a good thing.
Pete Hines, Bethesda's marketing chief and Twitter guru, assured fans over Twitter that it would no longer be an issue. And he would be the authority on that matter.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean Fallout 4 is flawless--it’s still got a 30 buck season pass you can preorder now--but hey, even that's pretty okay, because it assures you'll get all the DLC the game ever comes out with, so... that's a nice way to go about things.
