Splinter Cell didn't even get a passing mention at E3 this year, which is a shame for most fans. The series may have entered a rough patch lately (Blacklist was released in 2013, for goodness sake), but it's still well-known to deliver high-quality stealth action, and hey, now that Metal Gear Solid is "dead" we need a new game to take its place. Unfortunately for fans, in an internal interview that was just released today, CEO Yves Guillemot actually discussed Splinter Cell... and while it's not good news, it's not terrible either.
"We are receiving lots of sketches and proposals around the brand, and we're going to pick one up. I think you will be able to see something, but you will have to wait for that."
So the company hasn't given up on Splinter Cell, they're just not working on it right now. That is good news: it probably means we'll see a new game before Blacklist becomes a decade old (unlike certain other series), but, it also reveals that they're not even started the preliminary work on a new title. Which means we're still a long ways off from getting a new game.
Oh well. I guess it's Metal Gear Survive until then...
