No Man's Sky, whose Wikipedia page before launch is literally larger and more detailed than the page for freakin' Legend of Zelda, is due to come out in August 9th (pending no legal trouble), and boy, people are awful pumped for this game: you'd think it was set to be the new Minecraft or something. And with the kind of promises it's been making about the size, scope, and freedom available, it's easy to see where all this hype is coming from.
We'll find out soon enough if that excitement is justified, but in the meantime, here's some exciting news: if you planned to pick the game up for the PS4, and you wanted to play online, worry not: you won't need a PS+ account to access the game's online content!
Exciting news, but also, justified in the most brag-able way possible: Sony (and Steam) both say the game is so large, the chance of you actually running into any friends is minuscule, so you don't have to pay to "play" with them. Still, you'll need internet access if you want your discoveries to be registered with other players.
So when the game comes out, play it with reckless abandon: with no subscriptions, you're under no time limit, except your quickly waning life and health. But who needs that, right?
