So the game had more problems than just a delay. Hopefully this won't get me any death threats.
Anyway. It was way back in 2013 that UK television provider, Sky TV, actually tried to sue the creator of No Man's Sky for breaching on their trademark... of the word "sky."
Yes, someone trademarked the word "sky." Apparently we can do that, now.
Anyway, neither company ever went public with the lawsuit, and we only learned about it over the weekend when Hello Games boss Sean Murray tweeted:
Yay! We finally settled with Sky (they own the word "Sky"). We can call our game No Man's Sky. 3 years of secret stupid legal nonsense over
And later, added a little joke:
On the plus side perhaps this is the real reason Skynet never happened...
So, it's good that got sorted out, especially since "No Man's Sky" is a really cool title and it'd suck if they had to change it. Hopefully the game will live up to the ambitious title... and people stop threatening to kill each other over it. Both of those would be great.
