Nintendo Switch Sales Sit at Close to 18 Million

The Nintendo Switch has showed no signs of slowing down. Not only have we been receiving portable ports (Shadow of the Colossus, DOOM, Dark Souls, etc.), but we have also been seeing plenty of indies and originals appears on the unique console. In fact, just recently, Nintendo Labo has been well-received by children and adults alike.

So it is no surprise that the Switch has sold 17.79 million units as of March 31, 2018, according to the company's 2017 fiscal year earnings.

This is actually pretty amazing, considering the Wii U's lifetime sales, which totaled 13.56 million units. In other words, the Switch has sold close to 1.5 times more units in its first year compared to the Wii U sold in its entire lifetime.

And it's only expected to grow, what with the upcoming releases of Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Dark Souls, Octopath Traveler, Wolfenstein 2, and - oh yeah - SMASH BROS. FOR THE SWITCH.

Also, we can't forget about the inevitable Pokemon title. You know it's coming!

What has helped propel the Nintendo Switch to such sales are these three titles:

• Super Mario Odyssey - 10.41 million copies
• Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 9.22 million copies
• The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 8.48 million copies

So yeah, here's looking to another year of fantastic sales for the Switch!
