Nintendo Switch Online App Available for iOS and Android

Now if only it were built-in to the Switch itself...

The Nintendo Switch Online App is going to allow players to connect with friends and engage in general party activities, such as voice chat. Why Nintendo decided to make it an app instead of a part of the console is unknown to me, but they can do whatever they want. While the app was supposed to launch later this week alongside Splatoon 2, it seems as though Nintendo jumped the gun.

The app is now available on both iOS and Android, but there are some problems. The biggest one being that nobody can login. Either the servers are offline or they're being brutally overrun by login attempts, but regardless of reason, you can't get online. Perhaps the download for the app is available, but servers will launch as scheduled with Splatoon 2.

The servers may open up before then, but at the time of writing it is not possible for me to login. I would recommend you keep trying over the next few days to see if it does open before Splatoon 2 launches, but I certainly wouldn't hold my breath.
