Nintendo has posted a new video on their official YouTube channel, showing off gameplay for the upcoming platform fighting game. Lasting a little under one minute, we see almost every confirmed fighter in the midst of battle.
The trailer, unfortunately, doesn't provide much towards new information. Everything shown off has been revealed already in some capacity. It does, however, confirm some of the smaller details we can expect to see in the game.
A perfect example of this is Kirby's new down special. Throughout Smash Bros history, Kirby's down special attack (down + B) has been a rock transformation move. This makes the player invulnerable to damage while also damaging those he lands on. The exact form Kirby takes is random, but they're always something heavy. At the beginning of the video, we see the pink puffball take the form of a Shiekah Chest from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The most obvious changes are seen with the Final Smash-based conclusion. Game director Masahiro Sakurai had spoken previously about wanting to reform the Final Smash system into something more streamlined. As a result, we're seeing a number of characters getting a full remake to their powerful attack. Bowser, for example, no longer roams the stage in his Giga-Bowser form. Instead, he steps behind the playable stage and strikes a target with a powerful punch.
The trailer may be seen as a disappointment to some. It's been a short while since anything new was announced about the game and fans are itching for new information. A rumored leak has started to spread, where a supposed print shop has posted an image on Snapchat, revealing the remaining character roster. Though given the unpredictable nature of Nintendo and their games, it should be taken with a grain of salt.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate releases on December 7 for Nintendo Switch.
