Nintendo Releases 3 "Making Of" Videos for Legend of Zelda

If you’re one of the 1.5 million people who bought a Nintendo Switch, then there’s a decent chance that you’ve also gotten to spends some time playing Nintendo’s latest masterpiece, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Fans have been devouring this game with a vigor that’s been unmatched in the series history, and there are people who are downright envious of Nintendo owners for their ability to enjoy the new open-world Hyrule.

Well, regardless of if you’re one of the new fans or a simple, curious bystander, you may be curious about how the big N managed to create such an absorbing title. If you are, then good news: Nintendo has just released three different “making of” videos on youtube that detail the long process of creating Breath of the Wild.

And it’s quite the odyssey.

The first episode in the series talks about beginning the process of crafting a whole new type of Zelda.



The second goes into the details of how they crafted the story and characters that flesh out the game.



And the final part of the 3-part series talks about turning Hyrule into an open world.



Each video is about ten minutes long and is very interesting looks at the process Nintendo uses to craft their games. While just a glance, it’s certainly cool to see, and I think it’s nice that Nintendo would release something like this for the fans, even if it is ultimately just a form of self-promotion.

I hope we get to see more videos like this in the future, and not just from Nintendo. I, for one, have always been fascinated by the process of game design, and appreciate getting looks like these. Heck, I’d love to have a chat with the developers of From Software one day. Ah, if only…
