Nintendo Planning to Phase Out Some Amiibos

...Or is it?

Maybe it is time to prepare for the purchase of as many certain Amiibo toys as possible, because Nintendo plans on ceasing the shipments of certain Amiibos. The company has apparently discontinued the Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager figures, three of the twelve currently released. The company still promises to continue to retain the most popular figures, which are Skylander-esque interactive figures, but one of the main reasons why the least popular figures are being canceled is due to the lack of shelf storage space. In other words, shelves still plan on remaining available for the Mario and Link Amiibo figures.

However, there are claims that the discontinuation is just a rumor. According to one site, Slash Gear, David Young from Nintendo claims, in an e-mail, that Nintendo is not discontinuing those certain Amiibos, but resupply will take a little longer than presumed. Until there's an official statement on the Internet via Nintendo, there is no telling where those three Amiibos will actually go.

Nintendo has been quite strong with their releases, and the Amiibos have not failed the corporation. Thanks to both Smash and the figures being released in the holiday season, sales have been rolling in waves for Nintendo. Analysts are even expecting Nintendo to move 3.6 million Wii U consoles this year and rake in possibly one billion yen in Amiibo sales alone. The second wave of Amiibo figures are expected to release later this month, and the third wave at the beginning of the year. The Wii U and related products are indeed doing very well throughout what remains of 2014, and profits are only expected to grow with 2015 releases of popular franchised-games like Zelda for the Wii U and Star Fox for the Wii U.
