Nintendo has officially ended the production of the New Nintendo 3DS console. No, not the XL version, however. This is according to the company's official website.
The original, Japanese New Nintendo 3DS launched a quite a few months earlier than the North American version, back on October 11, 2014. However, it pushed fewer sales compared to the New Nintendo 3DS XL, selling 2.49 million units as of December 31, 2016. As for the New Nintendo 3DS XL? It pushed 9.82 million units. Wow indeed.
In other words, the production cut may have to do with the sales of the original New Nintendo 3DS. I don't think we're seeing the end of the New Nintendo 3DS XL anytime soon, especially since Nintendo has stated that they're continuing support of the system. Coming up we have Hey! Pikmin, Miitopia, Culdcept Revolt, Metroid: Samus Returns, Pokemon Gold and Silver version, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga: Bowser's Minions, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon, Yo-Kai Watch 2, Radiant Historia, and more! Looking forward to quite a few of these titles, in fact. So don't worry your pretty little heads - the 3DS isn't going anywhere.
