Nintendo is Poorer than We Realized

As poor as a multi-billion dollar company can be.

Nintendo, as we pointed out the other day, ain't in the best of spots. But as it turns out, their situation is even worse than we first described: not only is the company losing money, they're losing even more money than they anticipated, being $49 million USD in the red rather than their anticipated 38 million USD.

Nintendo attributes this extra loss to sluggish hardware sales, and a strong Yen, which means converting money to their native currency (considering they do 70% of their business oversees) is a more costly and has worse returns.

Fortunately, there is a bright side for Nintendo: a big new Pokemon Game is coming out soon, they have Breath of the Wild to look forward too, and of course, the Nintendo NX looks to take the world by storm when they can finally get around to announcing it and putting it on store shelves.

So, they just need to hold on for a bit longer. They'll probably be fine.

Probably.
