Nintendo has revealed the Nintendo Labo VR Kit online in a new web page. The complete kit will come with six different Labo attachments, each with special virtual reality functionality. They are as follows:
- VR Goggles
- Blaster
- Wind Pedal
- Camera
- Elephant
- Bird
No video footage of the Labo kit in action has been published, nor has any images of what the games themselves will include. So we have no idea what the gameplay will actually look like at this time.
We CAN explain how the VR system works. The Labo appears to use the same technology that "phone VR" uses, where the device itself acts as a screen and a constructed headset will place two eye lenses in front to alter how the eyes see the screen. This is a clever way to create VR ready visuals on smaller, wireless screens. The Switch console will use a gyroscopic sensor to detect head motions, moving the screen accordingly. It's worth noting that VR is not recommended for young kids whose eyes are still developing.
The Nintendo Labo VR Kit will release on April 12. Official price is not confirmed, but if we compare it to the other Labo Kits, it will cost around $50 to $60. For more information, visit the official webpage.
UPDATE: Pricing has now been revealed in an official press release. The full kit will cost $79.99. The starter kit will cost $39.99 with the two expansion options at $19.99.
