Nintendo Direct Will Live On

It's not going anywhere, thankfully.

Satori Iwata, the public face of Nintendo for many years, has finally been repalced after his death by Tatsumi Kimishima, a former banker and manager who's worked with Nintendo for over fifteen years. While we don’t know specifically how well he’ll do, or much about his plans for the company, we have at least got a little bit of news: apparently, Nintendo Direct, which was the means by which Satori Iwata became the public face of Nintendo, will continue even with his passing.

Speaking with IGN, Nintendo said:

"Nintendo Directs will continue. We have no details to provide now on who will be featured or the topics that will be covered."

Nintendo Direct was one of the more ingenious ideas from Nintendo, started nearly four years ago. They became so popular that eventually Nintendo dropped out of traditional trade shows in favor of a Nintendo Direct conference, so their latest news and games could be delivered… directly to you. I very much doubt Tatsumi Kimishima will take up the mantle as the spokesperson for Nintendo during their Nintendo Direct shows--he doesn’t really look like the kind of man with that kind of goofy charisma Satori got by with--but we’ll still probably see Mr. Miyamoto and Reggie. So maybe they’ll take over.

Only time will tell. And Nintendo, too, at some point.
