We previously stated that there would be a Nintendo Direct later today. Unfortunately, the live-streamed video event has been delayed, due to a recent earthquake.

An announcement was made on the Nintendo of America Twitter, which reassured that the new Direct date and time would be provided soon.

Due to the powerful earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan, we have decided to delay this weeks planned Nintendo Direct. We will provide a new time and date in the near future. Thank you for your understanding.

The earthquake struck the northern island of Hokkaido early Thursday morning, reaching a magnitude of 6.7. According to reports by CNN, the event has caused a number of landslides, which resulted in widespread power outages, over 200 injuries, and some unfortunately placed homes being completely buried.

The direct itself would have been the first multi-game encompassing direct Nintendo has held since E3.

Our sympathies go out to those affected by the earthquake. We hope for a quick recovery.
