The first tournament is the Splatoon 2 World Championship. The game company has gathered the four top teams of North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia, and it will pit them against each other in the game's first official world championship.
The second event is an invitational for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game. Nintendo has invited an undisclosed number of participants to play the next game in the popular fighting series. Bill Trinen has said that the event will be similar to their E3 2014 Invitation for Smash for Wii U, which featured top players like Mango, Hungrybox and ZeRo. He also remarked on the purpose of the event.
We want to have an event that showcases a really high level of play. We want it to be fun for the players, fun for the fans in attendance and for those streaming at home. We want to have matchups that people want to see.
Splatoon players in the United States and Canada interested in participating in the qualifiers for the Splatoon 2 tournament can sign up online for the Splatoon 2 Inkling Open 2018, which will have matches starting April 21.
According to Trinen, Nintendo has many more E3 related announcements planned, and we should expect to hear more in the next month.
