Announced through their corporate portal, Nintendo has detailed plans to expand Super Nintendo World with a new area dedicated to the Donkey Kong franchise. Designed after the dense jungle landscape from the games, the area will contain themed merchandise, interactive experiences, and even its own roller coaster.
The new area, like the first zone, will be designed and developed under the guidance and consultation of Universal Studios, Nintendo, and even Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Super Mario, who had this to say.
I am very happy to be able to make the world of Donkey Kong a reality following the world of Mario. I am looking forward to creating a thrilling Donkey Kong experience with the amazing team at Universal. It will take some time until it is completed, but it will be a unique area for not only people who are familiar with Donkey Kong games, but for all guests.
While details about the park and its design have not been detailed, Nintendo claims that it will increase the size of the Super Nintendo World by approximately 70%. The Donkey Kong area is planned to launch some time in 2024. More information will likely become available closer to release.
