While it may not be the most interesting thing to come out of EA's presentation (which, let's be honest, was kind of lacking for "newness") one of the coolest things they showed off was the upcoming DLC for their ever-popular World War 1 multiplayer shooter, "In the Name of the Tsar". Let's check out the trailer, shall we?
Set to launch this September, the DLC is set in the snowy and dangerous Russian front, which means six new maps (with Kupkow Pass, Galicia, and Albion being named specifically), 11 new weapons, and new vehicles like the Ilya-Muromets Heavy Bomber and a new class of Calvary, which you saw in the trailer skewering a man alive. A new mode, called Supply Drop, will add a bit more variety to your cues, and a Russian-themed operation based on the Brusilov Offensive will depict one of the bloodiest battlefields in the whole of World War 1.
Plus, woman soldiers. Historical accuracy has curtailed equal gender ratios so far, but Russia did have a lady-soldier battalion, so now you can play as one of them as you die repeatedly to grenade spam.
Before "In the Name of the Tsar", we'll have a few new solo maps coming for the game, Neville Nights and Prise da Tahure, which will be coming in June and July. Afterward, there will still be two more DLC packs before Battlefield 1 is finally "complete".
Looking to be a heck of a ride.
