The new Spider-Man game, a PS4 exclusive that have Sony fans dancing in the street and Xbox One owners green with envy, is doing quite well for itself. Not only is it the fastest-selling PlayStation game ever (sorry, God of War) by shipping 3.1 million copies in three days, Restera users (and Game Informer) have pointed out that it’s one of the most “completed” games ever released for the system.

What do I mean by that?

Well, most/all PS4 games offer trophies when you accomplish something in-game, ranked from bronze (easy) to gold (hard). Platinum trophies are the hardest of them all to unlock, however, and typically you only get a platinum trophy when you earn every other trophy a game has to offer – which basically means you’ve 100% completed the game. Such is the case with Spider-Man.

What Restera and Game Informer noted is that Spider Man’s platinum trophy rate is currently sitting at around 10 percent: which means that 10 percent of players have managed to unlock every trophy in the game and completely 100 percent this bad boy. That might not seem like a whole lot, but for most games, the platinum trophy rate sits somewhere at 2-4 percent. And while some are certainly harder to unlock than others (Undertale, for example, has a platinum trophy rate of about 20 percent), one has to remember that Spider-Man is an enormous game with lots to do, so this is a pretty good indicator that the game is so fun that people are more than willing to sink the enormous hours needed to see every secret and find every backpack.

So ultimately, the news is just that Spider-Man, the game everyone knew is great, is still great. And hey, that’s a nice change of pace, we need more great things in our lives. So let’s just soak in the good vibes for a bit.
