What? They're adding MORE?!

With everyone clamoring over Pokemon Go, it's easy to forget that it's not the only future of the Pokemon franchise--an actual GAME is coming out for the 3DS soon, Sun and Moon, and Nintendo has decided to remind people of that by releasing a video showing off some of the brand new poke-fellas that we can expect to catch in our latest adventure.

So the headline news (but not the most exciting news--we'll get to that in a bit) are the six new Pokemon shown off in the video:
  • Wimpod, a Bug/Water type, whose biggest contribution to your team is the ability to chicken out and run away automatically when taken below half-health.
  • Bounsweet, a grass type, is a walking, talking berry who smells nice.
  • Comfey, a Fairy type, who is literally just a lei, and Nintendo's stupidest Pokemon design since Vanillish.
  • Mudslade, a Ground type, who looks like it should be pulling around some Budweiser cart. Apparently, its kicks can destroy a car.
  • Bewear, a Normal/Fighting type, who looks pedobear after a gender reassignment surgery.
  • And, Mimikyu. a Ghost/Fairy Type, which is the result of the Pokemon team saying "we'll never make a Pokemon more popular than Pikachu, so let's draw him badly and call it a new Pokemon."
While new Pokemon are well and good, however, the more interesting news is that there's going to be a new NPC in the game called Mr. Hyper, who can train your PCs past level 100 to increase their base stats. This might not seem like much to the untrained eye, but when you consider that a major part of competitive Pokemon play is EVE training your Pokemon to maximize their stat growth, which is a time-consuming and confusing process, you realize that this is an effort by Nintendo to make real competitive play possible among all players, not just the ones willing to memorize a spreadsheet and spend hours battling specific Pokemon.

So.  That's nice.  Here's hoping it adds some diversity to the Pokemon big leagues.
