TimeSplitters is one of those IPs that remain fairly popular in spite of or perhaps because of the fact we havent gotten a new entry into the franchise in literally decades. TimeSplitters: Future Perfect was released in 2005, and in the 16 years that followed, there have been teases, suggestions, dashed hopes and canceled projects, but nothing close to the TimeSplitters 4 that people have been waiting for. We got a shot of hope three years ago when Koch Media decided to buy the franchise, but until recently, it seemed they had no intention of using it.

...but thats changed. Because it was just announced that Deep Silver (a subsidiary of Koch Media) is going to open a brand-new studio specifically with the goal of creating a new TimeSplitters game. And that new studio will be called Free Radical borrowing the name of the studio that first created this now-legendary series.

From Twitter:

You asked and we listend. We have been working on plans to brin ghte Timesplitters franchise back to life, and are pleased to let you know that we are setting up a new Deep Silver development studio to do just that. Free Radical Design is reforming and will be headed by industry and TimeSplitter Veterans, Steve Ellis and David Doak.

This is an exciting first step in the process; development on a new game has not yet started and we will update you when we have more news to share.

As you could probably guess, the fact that the game hasnt even been started yet means were still a long ways off from getting our hands on this title, assuming it manages to overcome its own entropy. But hope springs eternal, and hopefully well be able to blast through time sooner rather than later.
