New Raid Coming to World of Warcraft

And you can finally kill Gul'dan.

Blizzard has been fighting historically decreasing numbers for their most popular MMORPG (also their only one) in perhaps the most encouraging way possible: rather than simply going to the free-to-play model that just about literally everyone else has done, they've decided the best way to keep their users is through a steady stream of updated content and bi-annual 50-dollar expansions. Which is nice, kind of, and it seems to be working pretty well for Blizzard, who is certainly not shy about bragging when World of Warcraft does well, despite swearing to stop talking about lowering subscription numbers.

Regardless. They're at it again and have just announced that the Legion expansion will soon be getting a free raid, called "The Nighthold."

Found in Suramar, this new raid has 10 new bosses, including Dreadlord Tichondrius and Gul'dan, finally. I've wanted to kill that smug jerk for years, how come we haven't been able to do it until now?

Ugh. Here's the official description:

"The largest structure in the Broken Isles and among the grandest in all of Azeroth, the Nighthold stands as a testament to the achievements of the nightborne civilization. Centered around the Nightwell, the fount of arcane power that has sustained Suramar for centuries, these grounds were built as a haven from the worries of the world. But as a felstorm churns above the former temple of Elune across the bay, and Gul'dan himself now resides within the palace's walls, those worries now begin - not end - here."

The new raid will be available January 17th for normal and heroic, and the more challenging tiers will come available at later dates. So that's pretty cool.

Now go kill Gul'dan for your ol' pal Joe, please.
