It's bigger, which makes it better. Right?

Nintendo’s amiibos continue to be a thing, to the surprise of nobody. These popular plastic peripherals have charmed gamers, children, and gaming children around the world, and have even started crossing over with Skylanders, the granddaddy of the physical toy for video game genre. But with so many of these things around, isn’t it about time Nintendo did something a little… different with them? And not just "release them at a rate to satisfy demand" that’d be ludicrous.

Introducing the Yarn Yoshi amiibo, the first one you could theoretically cuddle.

Functionally, the Yarn Yoshi works the same as any other Yarn Yoshi—it can be a fighter in Smash Brothers, it can be used for the double Yoshi power-up in Yoshi’s Wooly World. But it is over twice the size, and could theoretically be used to fend off a burglar. Sadly, that also means it’s more than twice the cost of a standard amiibo, sitting at $39.99

The Big Yoshi amiibo will be released November 20th, which will also be the launch of the Captain Falco amiibo, three normal-sized Yarn Yoshi amiibos, three miis, and Mewtwo. A pretty exciting time for amiibo and Nintendo fans, but… it’ll probably be a pretty normal Friday for the rest of us.
