I think we can all agree Pokemon is kind of reaching a dead end, right?

I mean, I love Pokemon as much as the next guy. I grew up on it, I own several of the games, they’re cute and harmless and the world is so toothless and bleached I can’t help but wish that our own world were so simple and clean. But we’re on the sixth generation and they’ve started naming their games after letters; it’s obvious they ran out of ideas for original pokemon around two generations ago. Plus, at this point, I’m fairly certain we have more legendary pokemon than we have pre-evolutionaries, which is bad.

Speaking of Legendaries, with the upcoming Pokemon Z, the long-awaited third installment of the X and Y series, there’ll be a new Legendary to boot--a legendary that not only evolves, but evolves five times through its life. From a magazine scanned in japan, let me present you: Zygarde!

Zygarde, of course, has five forms, and you already met the snake-headed one. But this screenshot shows all of their forms: the flat blob, the round blob, the dog-thing, the snake-thing and the big guy to the right are all the evolutions of this particular Pokemon. They all have different names too--in order, Cell Zygarde, Core Zygarde, 10% Forme Zygarde, 50% Form Zygarde and finally Perfect Form Zygarde.

I get it, it represents the concept of evolution. Do I get a prize?

While the magazine doesn’t talk about how to get Zygarde (I assume?) I think we can also assume he’ll show up in the upcoming Pokemon Z. So… look forward to it, I suppose?
