New Fallout 4 DLC Lets you Pit Raiders Against Trained Deathclaws

It's an arena in your backyard!

During our first Fallout 4 DLC, we got ourselves a mechanized menace and the ability to make your own custom robot follow to help you take down an evil robot master. All in good fun, yes? But Bethesda wasn’t about to let the fun stop there! The next DLC has just been announced, and it sounds like an even bigger blast than before: specifically, in that it’s introducing gladiatorial combat into the game. Now, gladiatorial combat isn’t that special on its own, a lot of open-world RPG’s have that: but how many open-world RPG’s have gladiatorial combat where you’re the one running the show?

…Open-world RPG’s that haven’t been modded, I mean.

Called Wasteland Workshop, this new mod is, on the surface, about giving you extra tools and options to customize your wasteland settlement to a ridiculous degree, but really, people are here for the gladiatorial combat, and Bethesda knows it.

Fallout 4’s second add-on, Wasteland Workshop, will be available worldwide on Tuesday, April 12, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. With Wasteland Workshop, you can design and set cages to capture live creatures – from raiders to Deathclaws. Tame them or have them face off in battle, even against your fellow settlers. The Wasteland Workshop also includes a suite of new design options for your settlements like nixie tube lighting, letter kits, taxidermy and more.

So, in summation: it’s Pokémon. Fallout 4 Pokémon. You know, compared to the crappy DLC we got in Skyrim, I’m beginning to get the impression that Bethesda has decided to stop giving a flying eff about restraint and just go off-the-wall with these DLC packs. This is a good move, considering both this and the mechanical menace one looks like must-buys.

Ah well. Maybe they’re over-hyping it and it’s not as good as it looks (granted, it looks REALLY good), but we’ll have to wait another week, until April 12th, before we know for sure. In the meantime… well… just use the Deathclaw companion mod or something.
