New Destiny DLC Favors Sony over Microsoft

It has something in common with the majority of gamers, then.

I think the favorite way anyone’s ever described Destiny was as "gaming’s favorite 7/10".   Objectively, it’s mediocre if not outright bad: yet for some reason people can’t stop playing or talking about it.   I suppose it’s because they use the MMO style of hook that people have rallied against since they first realized gaming cold be addictive, but that’s neither here nor there.

In fact, that has very little to do with the actual content of the article.  Oh well.

Destiny is pretty popular regardless of its quality, but it does have something of a discrimination problem.  It seems the once exclusive Xbox Developer Bungie has gone ahead and switch sides, as the next DLC for the game, called the Dark Below, will include new story missions, some multiplayer maps, a new raid, and if you’re a PS3 or PS4 player, two strike missions.

If you’re an Xbox gamer, on the other hand, you’ll only get one.  And you’ll continue to be deprived of that bonus strike mission until “at least” fall of 2015.  That’s a full year from now, and it’s pretty silly to assume people will still be playing at that point.

Considering there’s not a whole ton of content in this $20 add-on, Xbox gamers are going to be missing out on quite a bit.  Especially since the Playstaiton players already have an exclusive strike mission, Dust Palace.

It sucks, but it’s also the way things are at the moment.  Exclusives are one of the few distinctions between modern consoles, so it’s only natural that companies would go out of their way to screw the other out of content.  And based on the fact that the console wars are still considered a thing by a lot of gamers, a lot of you would like to keep it that way.
