Hacking games--or games relating to hacking--appear to be all the rage lately. Hacknet just recently released, which is a game that basically teaches you how to hack. Hacker Experience is similar, but instead is browser-based.
Cuddly Zombies Games' first indie title is even hacking related--not at all associated with cuddly zombies!
Titled Networm (or Netw0rm), this 3D action game is inspired by '80s sci-fi movie hacking sequences, centering on an unnamed hacker breaking into corporate servers in an attempt to pilfer files and siphon funds. Of course, these funds are to be used to purchase more powerful tools that will help with the dreamed grand digital heists. Dodge or destroy ICE-breakers and outrun the server trace in order to reach the root of the server port.
Tempest-inspired with dodge-em-up elements, Networm focuses on one important question: Can the player reach the server's root node before the connection is caught and severed?
Currently, the Networm is waiting for the green light on Steam, but once greenlit, the game will be immediately available for purchase. Players, however, can always purchase a pre-release build that is has been originally intended to fund the continued development until the final Steam release. It is priced at £5.99 GBP ($9.17 USD), though you can always donate more, but if that price doesn't suit your fancy at the moment, be sure to at least give Networm a giant thumbs up!
