We have seen plenty of Nintendo franchises appearing on television over the years. The "Super Mario Bros. Super Show!," "Donkey Kong Country: the Television Series," "Super Mario World: The Television Series," "Pokemon," and "Kirby: Right Back at Ya!" have all been well-known TV shows that haven't fared exactly the best.

Over time, the Nintendo franchises have quieted in the television world -- until now. Recently, a report of a Zelda live-action television show has surfaced, and the show may just be a Netflix exclusive.

This is nothing new for Netflix. Lately, a lot of exclusive shows have been appearing on the service, such as "Orange is the New Black" and "House of Cards." Now, according to a Friday report from The Wall Street Journal, Zelda, to possibly tie in with the upcoming Wii U Zelda game, may be added onto the list. Netflix has even described the show as a "more family-friendly take on HBO's 'Game of Thrones'." Additionally, Nintendo is currently working close with Netflix on the project.

This is a good opportunity for Nintendo to redeem themselves, as their television programming (save for Pokemon) has not received the greatest praise. More than likely, the show will feature the same plot line found in the games - aka Zelda is kidnapped by Ganondarf, and Link must travel all over Hyrule to rescue her. I wonder how the release will actually pan out. I think, since a lot of Netflix original programming has received positive scores, that this show may also receive critical acclaim. Until then, look forward to it.
