io9 has confirmed that Netflix is working on a new project called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, an anime-style film. The information was originally discovered by Redanian Intelligence, a fan site, when they noticed that the Writers Guild of America West had an entry for a show of the same name.
The film will feature show writers Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who wrote the live-action Witcher show, and Beau deMayo. Animation will be handled by Studio Mir, a Korean animation company that produced The Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender.
Almost nothing else is known about the production at this time. The only information we have is from the description, which says that it explores a powerful new threat facing the Continent. That could mean anything! It sounds like a feature-length film, but it might take an episodic style, thanks to the success of the live-action show.
Meanwhile, the live-action show has been renewed for a second season. All in all, Witcher fans have plenty of content to look forward to.
UPDATE: The show has appeared on Netflix's web listings. The description implies that the story will follow Vesemir, instead of Geralt.
"Long before mentoring Geralt, Vesemir begins his own journey as a witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise."
